Protected floppy disk image (IPF and STX file format) support is only partial !If you are looking for a device supporting IPF / STX please a have a look to the USB HxC Floppy Emulator device)
- Read only Floppy emulator (SD,DD,HD & ED mode)( No Write Support ! Have a look to the SD Card version for the write support!)- USB 1.1 device interface (based on the FTDI FT245.).- MFM, FM and GCR compatible (can handle custom encoding).- Bitrate between 63Kbits/s and 1MBits/s.(250 differents bitrates by step of 62.5ns).- Variable bitrate, flakey bits and long tracks, custom tracks support (emulation of copy protected floppies).- Can emulate floppies up to 128 tracks.- "jumper free" design : Device configuration done by software.- Flexible floppy interface: Shugart, IBM PC and Amiga compatible.
The bitstream to use to program the CPLD is available here.To program this chip you can use Quartus II and an Altera compatible JTAG probe (The ByteBlaster for example). The CPLD programming software can be downloaded from the Altera/Intel website.Note : The EPM7128S CPLD can also be remplaced with the Atmel ATF1508AS.
There are four LEDs on the board:D1 : Power LED.D2 : Select LED : Is on when the target computer acccess the floppy disk.D3 : Step LED : Is on when the target computer is stepping/changing track.D4 : Link LED : This is the USB link status: Is on when dialoging the host PC.
This software act as the floppy server with the USB HxC Floppy Emulator. This program also allows you to convert floppy file images for the SD Card based HxC Floppy Emulator.Supports many input floppy image file formats: List of the supported floppy image formats.
Swap your legacy diskette drive for the new USB floppy drive! From now on use reliable USB Sicks instead of vulnerable diskettes! Up to 100 floppies can be stored on one single USB Stick! In the wake of constantly advancing USB technology, especially USB memory components, legacy floppy disk drives are gradually being phased out.
- The old floppy disk drive is replaced 1:1. The connections are identical, so no further changes have to be made.- The USB Stick at the USB Floppy Emulator replaces the old diskette entirely. USB memory components have long life spans and high capacities.- The new USB floppy drives and USB memory components are practically immune to impacts from magnetic fields, dust or shock.- The contents on 100 floppies can easily be placed on one single USB Stick. That saves a lot of time and costs!
Following on my previous review of a 100-bank low-cost USB floppy emulator and testing of the emulator, I realized that the eBay market saw the introduction of another floppy emulator. This one is the GoTek System SFR1M44-U100K 1000-bank USB floppy emulator, also attractively priced around US$20.
I purchased the usb gotek SFR1M44-U100K floppy emulator and have it installed in my akai mpc 2000 sampler. I am trying to partition my usb 8gb flash drive into 1000 1.44mb folders. I want to use the usb flash drive to load the OS for the akai mpc 2000. As well as use the available partition folders to save and load wav. sounds. I also want to use it to save sequences from the akai mpc 2000.
Instead, you can try working with the USB devices in raw mode by working up an image and then writing it to the drive. The format follows the same rules as the 100 floppy disk emulator I reviewed prior (see -unbranded-1-44mb-usb-100-floppy-emulator/), with the exception there are 1000 slots rather than 100.
Thank you very much for the information! It was very slow and frustrating using the floppy interface to copy my disks to the emulator, so this is a godsend. It was also going to be very awkward to update the files in disk slots 100+ as it would have meant removing the emulator from the system it was installed in.
I you got one of these drives for my Roland va5, works perfectly after putting 3 jumpers on, s1,motor on and one other. I use software from Ketron.it .. =com_content&view=article&id=463&Itemid=170&lang=eng works perfectly and is drag and drop.. hope this helps
Bring new life to your old Apple computer! The BMOW Floppy Emu is a disk emulator for classic Apple II, Macintosh, and Lisa computers. With Floppy Emu you can revisit your old favorite games and applications, boot disk images downloaded from the web, and transfer files between vintage and modern machines. Floppy Emu uses a removable SD memory card for storing disk images, and mimics an Apple floppy disk and drive, or an Apple hard drive.
